Anti-Lock Brake Warning Light (Yellow)

The Anti-Lock Brake Light looks like the letters ABS in yellow with parentheses around them. This indicates that your Anti-Lock Brake system has been shut off. If you see this light on your dash you should bring your vehicle in for an inspection.

However, if the brake light is not on, your brakes will likely still work even when there is an issue with the Anti-Lock Brake system.

Brake Warning Light (Red)

When the word BRAKE appears on your dashboard, either your parking brake is on or you need to refill your brake fluid. If the Brake Warning Light appears with the Anti-Lock Brake Light, this means there is likely something malfunctioning with the anti-lock brake system.

Check to see if your parking brake is on and if it is, release it.

Then, refill your brake fluid.

If this light persists, it's important to bring your car in for service.

Engine Check/Malfunction Indicator Warning Light (Yellow)

The Check Engine Light looks like the outline of a yellow engine. It indicates there is something wrong with your engine or transmission, which could be a wide range of issues.

If you notice this light appearing beyond a single drive, you'll need to bring it in to get checked out.

Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light (Red)

This check engine light looks like a red mini thermometer with little waves running across it. When you see the Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light, this means your engine is at the risk of overheating to unsafe levels.

You will also hear a chime sound along with this warning light. If the engine reaches its limit, the chime will continue to sound for four minutes or until the engine cools, whichever comes first.

Pull your truck over as quickly as you can and place it in neutral. It's also a good idea to turn off the heat or A/C in your cabin.

If the temperature does not return to regular levels, it's not safe to drive and you need to call for help.

Electronic Throttle Control Warning Light (Red)

If you see a red lightning bolt with outward facing parentheses around it, this indicates there is a problem with your electronic throttle control system. Depending on the issue, this warning light might flash or stay on continuously.

Usually, you should be able to drive your truck normally, but if this light continually appears while your vehicle is running, it needs service. It's important to bring your truck in as quickly as you can for diagnosis and any necessary repairs.

Transmission Temperature Warning Light (Red)

Like the Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light, the Transmission Temperature Warning Light is a little red thermometer with a circular or gear-like shape around it. This indicates that your transmission fluid is too hot and commonly appears during strenuous use, such as towing.

Idle your engine and put your transmission in neutral to let it cool off. Once it goes away, you can continue to drive normally. However, if you notice the light remains on, it's time to bring your truck in for service.
